In 2012 I attended the Children’s Literature Association conference for the first time.  The conference theme was “Literary Slipstreams,” and I presented “Gender, Agency, and Authorship in Voigt’s Orfe and Block’s ‘Orpheus’.” (Click on the paper title for a PDF of the talk.)

At the 2011 meeting of the South Atlantic Modern Language Association, the Nathaniel Hawthorne Society sponsored a panel on the spirituality expressed in Hawthorne’s short stories.  I presented “The Education of the Spirit in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s Wonder Book.” (Click on the paper title for a PDF of the talk.)
